Bukidnon is well known for having a beautiful picturesque
mountains and a popular hiking destination for the outdoor enthusiasts. The newly
opened to the public Panimahawa Ridge located in Barangay Impalutao, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon is a must.
From Davao to Bukidnon, It will take 4 to 5 hours travel on a
van. You need to register your name in the logbook and pay 300 php for the local
guide, sitio and barangay payment then you may now start your trek. We started
our trail around 3:00 AM after we arrived. The ground was muddy due constant
rain making the ground wet and slippery, some of the mud will stick on your
shoes making it harder to walk. We only bring trail foods, water, extra money
headlamp/flashlight and walking stick because our guide informed us that there
will be no shelter from the sun on the ridge so we need to go back down before
it’s too hot. The rest of our things were left inside the van.
Using only our headlamp to light the path we gradually follow
the long path downhill which takes us for about 30 minutes and lead us to the
river wherein you will cross a makeshift bamboo bridge to the other side.

The ascend was more difficult because of the off and on rain and the low visibility plus the cold but we manage to make it thru even if we stop a few times to catch our breath. There were scattered small store where you can sit for a while or buy a snacks to replenish your strength. Before we take our final ascend, the local encourages us to give 1 peso at the makeshift kubo wherein you can offer your “alay” so that you will not be enchanted. (It’s no harm to follow their beliefs than be sorry later on).

The hike was short but steep so you need to be very careful
because this time you can feel your feet aching. We reach the peak around 05:45
AM, there are already a crowd, and some are having their tent at the designated
campsite waiting for the sunrise to witness the view. And behold! The majestic view of the mountains, canyons,
hills that you will see. You can say that your aching body will be worth it by
the sight that you will enjoy. Your eyes will be full upon seeing the beauty of
nature.
Apparently we haven’t seen the sea of
clouds because of the scattered rain shower but the panoramic view that will
surrounds you was so breathtaking.
We stayed for an hour then started our trail
back to Ant Farm and had our breakfast at the farm. The trail is 3 – 4 hours
depending on how fast you can walk. If you have no food don’t worry because the
locals sells breakfast for an affordable price. And don’t forget to try their
buko juice. So good and very refreshing after a day hike.
