The well-known Shrine of the Divine Mercy is located at El Salvador, Misamis Oriental overlooking the Macajalar Bay. It is a pilgrimage site for various religious group throughout the year and a favored place for atonement, spiritual assessment and reflection. The 9 hectares land covered in greenery is where the 15.24 meters (50 feet) statue of Divine Mercy (the tallest in the Philippines and throughout Asia) is located in which you can climb the steps towards the heart of the statue the “chamber of adoration” as what the devotees called it.


The Shrine is open and free for all however you need to dress modestly or if the visitors were not aware of the proper dress code, they offer a "sarong" for rent at the cost of P20. The devotees of the Divine Mercy doesn’t ask any amount but accepts a donation for upcoming projects and developments of the area.


Before you are allowed to walk at the heart of the Divine Mercy, they offer a little summary on when it was all started. Moreover they explain the visions and miracles that happens and will be advice to leave all personal belongings to their baggage area, even the cellphones are not allowed upstairs for the reason that it was intended for prayers and devotions not for personal pleasures.


Before ascending the stairs, you will be given a little yellow paper scribbled with a prayer to recite while taking the steps (I really feel something while doing this honestly) then at the heart of the Divine Mercy, you can pray for your personal intentions.


At the back of the statue on its base is the location of the Church and the Chapel of the Holy Shroud. The celebration of the Feast of the Divine Mercy transpires on every Sunday after Easter.
